Autumn Came and Went!

This is How it Was Spent. . .

School. . .  CJ went to the public school each day for an hour.  This was his first day.  What a handsome boy.  He had gym, library, music, computer and one recess. Then, he came home with the rest of us and did homeschool for the remainder of the day.  It has been great to have so much time together as a family.

Of course playing football. . .  Since we were homeschooling and BJ couldn't play football with the public school,  we asked the local Catholic school if BJ could play with them this year.  What a great experience.  He loved it.  The atmosphere was so refreshing.  The kids were great and the coaches were inspiring.  They worked the kids hard and expected the best on and off the field.  They went undefeated.  Go Mustangs!

Entertaining ourselves while we watched football. . .

On the road. . . Jer traveled back and forth to Utah every other week working with another dentist down there.  Each kid took turns going with him and having one on one daddy time.

Field Trips. . .  For our Zoology unit we went to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.  We focused on the animals that Lewis and Clark came across on their adventures.  The kids took notes on several different animals which helped the explorers as well as the natives.  They also took notes on those that presented challenges for the people.  Going on Field trips together is one of our favorite things about Home School.

More Football. . .CJ played his second year of flag football.  It's fun to see his skills improve as he grows.  His strengths are pulling flags and blocking.  

 Dad didn't get to coach this year because of traveling, but he helped out as much as                     possible.

And last but not least. . . 

Acting and Singing . . .CJ and MJ both received roles in the play, "Sleepy Hollow".  They did a fabulous job and spent many hours working on it with the Great Falls Young Actors Guild.

 CJ was the youngest one in the play.  Everyone thought he was adorable and did such a good acting job.  I had to chuckle when I realized he really wasn't acting he was just being his charming mischievous little self up there.

 MJ played Mrs. Trenkler, a silly superstitious woman.  She was the first person to perform on the stage and the last one off.  This was the first time she has had a large speaking part and a singing solo.  We were so proud of her, she just shined up there.

So, of course we had to read Sleepy Hollow for School.  The kids thought it was a little wordy. BJ commented on how annoying it was to read a whole page that was only describing a tree.  I guess the classics are like that sometimes.

We can't forget Halloween and Thanksgiving.  We'll save that for the next post.

All and all it was fun and busy.   What do you expect with five kids.  Jer calls it beautiful chaos!
